The Aluminum SE cable has the polyvinyl chloride jacket that protects the electrodes from direct harmful ultraviolet rays.

The cable has been reinforced with a wrapping tape around the electrodes promote strength and conformity.

The cable has also been constructed to keep the conductors safer from corrosion which could be as a result of excessive moisture.

Aluminum Service Entrance cable is employed at the point of transmission where secondary distribution is sent from the service drop into a residence or building.  The cable delivers energy to the meter base and then to the building’s distribution panel.  It can carry voltages up to 600 volts and function in temperatures up to 90°C.  SE should be used above ground.
 

 

Conductor - Compact stranded AA-8000 series aluminum alloy (ACM) per ASTM B801 or B836. Features solid AA-8000 series aluminum alloy (ACM) per ASTM B800.

Insulation - Color coded cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).

Assembly - Insulated conductors are cabled with the bare ground wire. A flame retardant fiberglass reinforced binder tape assembles the core in a circular configuration.

Jacket - Sunlight resistant, LEAD FREE, flame retardant, gray polyvinyl chloride (PVC) material.
